The best italian restaurant in NYC would be the right definition. Cosy, friendly family place. Mostly same faces around, very high scale New Yorkers. Owners and the staff are friends with most of the custumers because everybody has to have a personal account with them to pay the bill. They dont accept credit cards, either cash or you have a house account. The food, service everything grate. Dont ever try to go without reservation because always packed.

Sette Mezzo

I have been here many many times. Its owned by the same people as Vico at 92nd and Madison. Its a place where many celebrities go. Its a little noisy and lunch s generally for ladies who lunch-BUT the food and service are excellent. The best dishes are not on the menu-Paste Bolognese its the same Bolognese as Vico and its the best in the City. Veal Capricosa and any item of fish

The ceiling in Sette Mezzo is low, and with the super dense arrangement of tables one cannot hear oneself chewing, let alone talk to your partner. We started with Caesar salad and polenta with lamb sauce and continued with fish (bronzino) and an egg-plant with tomato sauce and parmiggiano cheese. The food was tasty, but a $100 bottle of wine (2013 Chianti) was disappointing. With the tip the above meal cost about $300, a bit too much for what we had. The place has a good reputation but I left unconvinced.
